together is a shared want-to-do list for real friends, operated by Aileron Software LLC in Portland, Oregon. This page says what we collect, what we do with it, and what we refuse to do. It is short because the product collects little.

What we collect

• Your profile.When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. Name and photo are editable in the app. Your email is the account key. We don't use it for marketing; if we write to you it is about your own account — confirming a deletion request, for instance.
• Your list.The items you add, the notes you attach, check-offs, who you tagged as having been there, and whether you'd do a thing again.
• Your circle. Connect taps, connections, sent invites, and blocks.
• Reports you send us.If you report someone, we keep who reported, who was reported, and when. A person reads it. The person you reported isn't told.
• A push token,only if you switch notifications on. If you don't, we don't store one.
• Anonymised usage events. First-party, stored on our own infrastructure. Events are scrubbed on your device before they are sent: no names, no emails, no notes, no free text, no item titles, no coordinates. They are keyed to a one-way hash rather than your account, and we use them to understand whether the app works.
• Crash and error reports,through an error-monitoring service (currently Sentry). Crashes and errors only — we don't use it for session replay or performance profiling.

Location

The app uses your location with your permission, and only while you are using it — never in the background, and we don't keep a location history. Distances are worked out on your device, against place coordinates that are already public data, so we don't receive or store your position as such.

One thing worth being straight about: when you open the map, your phone asks our server for the places inside the area you are looking at, and that request necessarily describes a patch of the map. We don't record it against your account or build a picture of your movements from it. Your position is not shown to your friends, and no distance but your own is ever shown to you.

Who can see your list

Everyone in your circle can see your whole list, notes included. That is the product: open books among people who both chose the connection. There are no per-item privacy controls in this version — anything you want kept private belongs off the list. Nothing is public; people who are not in your circle see nothing.

What we don't do

This is how the app works today:

• We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
• We don't use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
• Invites go out through your own SMS app, composed by you.
• We don't collect background location or build a location history.
• We don't send marketing email.

Third-party services

We keep these few and name the current ones. Searches for films and TV go to TMDB, and for books to Open Library, through our servers — your identity is not attached to those requests. Poster and cover images load from their servers. Map tiles load from our tile provider. Sign-in is handled by Google or Apple under their terms. Place data comes from open datasets (Foursquare OS Places, Overture Maps) hosted by us.

Deletion

Delete your account in Settings. It is immediate and hard: your profile, list, notes, taps, connections, invites, and push tokens are erased, not archived. Friends' views simply lose your rows. There is no retention window and no way for us to bring it back. If you can no longer get into the app, you can ask us to delete it for you.

Where data lives

Application data is stored with our hosting provider (Supabase, Postgres) and protected by row-level security — the database itself enforces that only your connections can read your list. together is operated from the United States by Aileron Software LLC, an Oregon limited liability company. We collect the minimum the product needs, use it only to run the product, and delete it when you ask.

Changes

The product will change, and this page changes with it. If what we do with your information changes materially, we'll post the new version here with a new date, and say what moved. This page describes how together works today rather than promising how it will work forever.
